2008 Grant Award Recipients
|
Each year the Jensen Foundation provides grants to a select group of American opera companies in support of young and developing artist programs. Our recipients for 2008 include Central City Opera, supporting artists participating in its Summer Opera Festival; Opera Theatre of St. Louis, for general support of the Gerdine Young Artist Program; Des Moines Metro Opera, in support of the the James Collier Apprentice Artist Program and the Des Moines Metro Summer Festival; and Chicago Opera Theater and Opera San Jose, in support of their young artist programs.
The Fritz and Lavinia Jensen Foundation (the “Foundation”) was established in 1998 for the purpose of assisting young opera singers in developing careers in opera. Each year since 2000, the Foundation holds an opera competition in New York City and its winners are now members of such prestigious arts programs as The Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Chicago Lyric, Tokyo City Opera, Opera Australia, Welsh National Opera, Florida Grand Opera and Opera Carolina.
