2008 APPLICATION (PDF)

THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MARCH 15!  Space is still available but filling up quickly.

Please read the instructions carefully!  The electronically-submitted application should be sent using the "Submit by Email" button or by completing the PDF form, saving as a PDF and attaching as an email.  Do not submit as XML or by converting to Word and converting back to a PDF.  

Note to Mac Users!  Please open and save your application using Adobe Reader (7 or 8) for your application to be processed correctly.

Application FAQs

DATES: Preliminary Rounds, May 12-16, 2008 with the finals to be held on May 17, 2008. (Application deadline: March 15, 2008)

LOCATION: Engleman Recital Hall, Baruch Performing Arts Center (BPAC), 55 Lexington at 25th Street (between Lexington and 3rd), New York, New York.

ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible to compete, an applicant must

• be a permanent legal resident of the United States for at least one year prior to May 12, 2008. Proof of residency must be submitted in the form of a copy of a U.S. passport, a permanent resident (green) card, or a U.S. birth certificate. No other documents will be accepted;
• be between the ages of 25 and 35 as of May 12, 2008;
• not be a past or current recipient of a contract with an OPERA American Budget Level I company or its international equivalent (This does NOT include cover roles, chorus or apprentice/young artist programs.); and
• submit a completed application postmarked by the deadline of March 15, 2008.

APPLICATION FEE: $30, Non-refundable.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:  Application must be submitted electronically first.  Complete the ONE PAGE Application and choose "Submit via Email" at the top of the page. You may also send the completed PDF form as an email attachment. Once submitted, the application should be mailed to the Foundation with all other required documentation.  An application will not be considered complete until both applications are received.  Applications will be processed beginning January 1, 2008.

COMMUNICATION: E-mail will be the primary source of communication. Please be sure no Jensen Foundation emails are blocked, especially if you use a hotmail account.
